Setting Up Google Mail for Android Devices

This article explains how to install the Gmail app (if it isn’t already on your device) and set up your Laredo College email account on an Android phone or tablet.

Step 1: Get the Gmail app

 Gmail comes pre installed on most Android devices. Check your app drawer before downloading — if the app icon is already there, skip to Step 2.

1. Open the Google Play Store app on your device.
2. Tap the search bar and type Gmail.
3. Select Gmail – Email by Google from the results.
4. Tap Install and wait for the download to complete.

Step 2: Add your Laredo College account

1. Open the Gmail app.
2. Tap your profile picture in the top right corner.
3. Tap Add another account.
4. Select Google as the account type. Laredo College email accounts run on Google Workspace, so they use the Google sign-in flow.
5. Enter your full Laredo College email address (username@students.laredo.edu) and tap Next.
6. Enter your PASPort password and complete two-step verification if you have it enabled.
7. Review the account permissions screen and tap I agree to finish setup.

Once setup is complete, your Laredo College account will appear in the account switcher, and mail will begin syncing automatically.
